New Titles and New Release Dates!

The Band of Sisters series is getting a new look! And new titles. And new release dates. It’s basically a Band of Sisters marketing makeover. If you follow this blog, you might have read a recent post: How to Sell Romantic Suspense that Has a Fierce Female Lead. If you haven’t read it, the gist is that it’s not easy to sell romantic suspense with a kick-butt female on the cover. Turns out, there are certain expectations in the romantic suspense genre for covers. The cover of I AM JUSTICE broke those expectations. It did so spectacularly. Look for yourself:

This fierce cover got a lot of attention. The reviews were amazing. I AM JUSTICE was a Kindle Daily Deal, an Amazon Best Book of the Month, and a BookPage Top 15 Romance Books of 2018. So a lot of good things happened for the beginning of the series. Now Sourcebooks wants to expand on that good.

Although my cover was everything I could want, it sent different signals to different readers. Some readers picked it up expecting an urban fantasy and others passed it by not knowing it was romantic suspense. This kind of confusion is something to avoid for books two and three. A series this bada** needs to find readers who will enjoy and savor every hot moment. That’s why Sourcebooks and the wonderful and creative marketing team at SourcebooksCasa is retiring Band of Sisters for a new, snazzier title.

I’m so excited to announce that the new series title for Band of Sisters is…

…Black Ops Confidential! Oh, I just love how it sounds. So secretive and sexy. Basically, it hits all the levels on my romantic suspense meter. But wait, there’s more! In addition to getting an all new title for the series, books 2 and 3 have been given new titles as well. No longer will book 2 be called I AM GRACE. The new title is THE PRICE OF GRACE. I love this. It fits this story, which centers around Gracie Parish. Here’s a bit of her story:

Keeping secrets is her job. Uncovering the truth is his. But his dogged quest for answers might just get her killed.

Adopted into a fierce sisterhood of vigilantes, Gracie Parish has seen her most precious relationship destroyed by the truth. Forced to give up her son to keep him safe, she learned the hard way to protect her family’s secrets and her heart.

Special Agent Leif “Dusty” McAllister will do anything to expose the Parish family’s covert operations. Gracie is his ticket in. He’ll use everything he’s got — fair, unfair, or just plain wrong –to uncover the truth. But the more he gets to know Gracie, the harder he starts to fall.

As the smoldering attraction between Dusty and Gracie heats up, his investigation ignites a deadly threat from her past and reveals the haunting reason someone wants her dead.

With danger closing in, Dusty must choose between his job or helping Gracie. While Gracie must decide if she trusts Dusty enough to let him help. Because now it’s not just her vigilante lifestyle in jeopardy, it’s her life. And that of her son.

If you’d like to read the first four chapters of THE PRICE OF GRACE go to the bottom of this page and hit download.

I’m so excited to share Gracie and Dusty’s incredible story with you!! This book will be available for purchase in Sep 2019, but I’ll be giving away some advanced reader copies (ARCs) over the summer for review!

The third book in the BOC series, I AM HONOR now titled THE COST OF HONOR is out in Nov, 2019. This story is a bit of a spoiler for books one and two, so I’m hesitating to share more. Still, PW already gave it away with their spoiler-review of THE PRICE OF GRACE, so I’ll probably post a few chapters in the coming weeks.

If it seems like a long wait to get more of the Parish family, don’t lose heart! Early next year, I’m releasing a novella featuring Dada Parish. It details her harrowing antics in Mexico, before the events of I AM JUSTICE. I’m writing it now, and it’s an incredible romance. Plus gripping and suspenseful. Can’t wait for everyone to fall in love with her and ‘Juan.’ In addition to this novella, I’ll also be sharing more information about the Parish family–like this article–and a small history of the matriarch of the family, Mukta Parish. I’m also working on a new series. I’ll have details soon! Now you know all of the good news, so go out and spread the word!!

#Love Your Bookstore Challenge!

Sourcebooks has issued a #LoveYourBookstore challenge. In order to compete and win fabulous prizes, you have to go to your local bookstore (so far I love this challenge), purchase something, and take a picture of yourself buying the book. I did that today at the wonderful Doylestown Bookshop.

Why do I love my local bookstore so much? Well, the staff is kind, knowledgable, and they have an incredible eye for good books. That means that one of the highlights of going there is seeing the Staff Picks along the front wall. I also love the feel of the store. If you’ve been in any kind of local bookstore, you know that these are personal places, places with a feel, a personality, a tone. Doylestown Bookshop has an inviting and warm and unhurried atmosphere. It kind of feels like a good friend of yours, one with excellent taste in books, opened a bookstore. There is an instant comfort and joy inside this bookstore. It’s just a great place to spend time!

“Fanny.” Cracks me up.

I’m channeling Gracie from I Am Grace. She doesn’t curse. And there’s a whole story about why. Oh, man, I love Gracie so much. And her relationship with Dusty. I can’t wait to share their story with you. Yes, I know I’m supposed to be peddling the first book and the giveaway, so after you win your free copy of I Am Justice come back and visit the I Am Grace page. There’s a free download of the first four chapters. Yay!! Enjoy!!

Ad Space: The Marketing of I Am Justice

The first novel in my Band of Sisters series released on May 1st, 2018! I’ve been busy marketing, attending conventions, and book signings. Since I’m new at this whole marketing thing, I’ve been playing with some of the features over at Canva.com. I really like how easy the application is to use, but I’ve learned to be careful where I put the words. They can cut off when transferred to some social media sites. Today, I’m sharing a couple of my favorite IAJ marketing posts I’ve made.

This review from Night Owl made my day, and it was a complete surprise. I didn’t even know about it until I saw it on Amazon. Now that I’m posting it here, I can also see that the words are too light. I’ll have to go back and fix it!

A review from Bookpage sparked this marketing gem. One of the things that’s surprised me is how much better an ad will do when it features a man and a woman and not just the female protagonist. Thus, the ad below.

This has been by far my most successful ad. I’m actually off to go search out other hot male abs to add into more social media posts! It’s a tough job…Below is one of my very first marketing posts for IAJ. It’s a combination of reviews from Kirkus, PW, Booklist, and Bookpage.

Happy Book Birthday, I Am Justice!

My kick-ass book is here and running around in the world creating trouble!!! Woohoo! I am so freakin’ excited!! Plus I found out late last night that Amazon picked I Am Justice as a Best Books of the Month!! ???? ?Great reviews like those from Publishers Wkly, Romantic Times, and Kirkus Reviews. It’s a Bookpage Top Pick and now this!! I’m blown away!!

I’m so thrilled with the reception for this novel. And at the risk of getting all braggy, BookList–published by the American Library Association for over 100 years–just released this amazing review:

“Muñoz Stewart gives us a high-octane adventure with her new series, Band of Sisters. Justice was sold to human traffickers as a child and saw her sister murdered by them. After the Parish family rescued her, she vowed that no woman would have to go through the humiliation and violence she did. The wealthy Parish family’s businesses and private school are covers for their real organization: a secret sisterhood of assassins, hackers, and scientists all rescued by the matriarch, Mukta, and all intent on combating crimes against women. With their resources, Justice finds the men who “owned” her in Jordan, and she’s ready for blood. Pretending to join the refugee work of soldier-turned-humanitarian Sandesh, she enters the country, but her quest isn’t the only thing that heats up in Jordan. Muñoz Stewart discusses such sensitive topics as human trafficking, sexual violence, and sexism, which are rarely examined in romantic suspense, while the diverse members of the Parish family and their mission to protect women everywhere give these topics a little more hope than usual.”

The last line of the review is exactly what I set out to do. Talk about the hard stuff, but give hope and encouragement. ❤
